After conducting a 22-week intensive series of online trainings on Data Analytics for Development, the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) and the Peace Corps jointly conducted a virtual culmination program on August 20, 2026, via Google Meet.

USM President Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel welcomed the participants. He highlighted the partnership established and how it strategically equipped USM professionals with technical skills on navigating Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for data analytics and community development.
“Good morning, everyone, and welcome to our virtual culmination program. As you have already completed a series of trainings, USM is now ready to integrate this knowledge to enhance processes and solve complex community challenges,” he added.
In response, Resource Person and Peace Corps Volunteer Prof. Russell McMahon recognized the participants’ active engagement, which sparked motivation and dedication to successfully complete the course.
The program was sealed with participants sharing their experiences, challenges, and overall learnings. This was followed by a wrap-up video covering all the sessions and topics conducted.
“I am very confident that the ideas shared with us will remain, and I am optimistically seeing a stronger culture of listening and collaboration through the successful conduct of trainings,” said Dr. Debbie Marie B. Verzosa (Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension) as she concluded the program.
Participated in by USM faculty members, researchers, and extensionists, the training successfully empowered a well-versed target audience of academic professionals. This underscored USM’s commitment to fostering innovation, institutional growth, and sustainable community development through technology-driven solutions.
