The award-winning and internationally-acclaimed documentary ‘Beneath The Badge’ is coming to the University of Southern Mindanao, as revealed by filmmaker and Newsline Philippines founder Editha Zaragosa Caduaya during a meeting with USM officials on September 7 at the Office of the President, Administration Building, in Kabacan, Cotabato.
The veteran journalist also presented her book of the same title, which served as the basis for her debut documentary.
The documentary has received international recognition, earning multiple awards and securing selections in international film events.
The upcoming USM screening is expected to bring the documentary to students and faculty from various disciplines including criminology, communication, and the social sciences, later this September. The documentary brings the story told in Caduaya’s book to the screen, offering audiences a closer look at the psychological realities, sacrifices, and unseen burdens of men and women in uniform.
Caduaya is the founder of both Newsline Philippines, a Davao-based news organization, and POP Movie House, an independent film production and distribution company.
Present during the meeting were USM President Jonald L. Pimentel, College of Arts and Social Sciences Dean Dr. Maria Luz D. Calibayan, and faculty members from the Departments of Criminology and Development Communication.
