Leading as one of the premiere agricultural universities in the country, the University of Southern Mindanao expanded its partnership with the Provincial Government of Bohol on July 21, 2026, at the Office of the President, USM Administration Building, Kabacan, Cotabato to support students enrolled in agriculture and fisheries programs.

Representatives from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) of Bohol personally convened with USM and faculty members from USM College of Agriculture to discuss the details pertaining to Bohol Agricultural Scholarship Program (BASP). The scholarship program aims to support deserving students in agriculture and fisheries through academic support and special training.

The scholarship program targets students who are Boholano/Boholana or bona fide resident of Bohol who are willing to work in Bohol, currently enrolled in Agriculture/Fisheries related programs at any partner SUCs in both undergraduate and master’s degree programs, and not a recipient of another scholarships with return service obligations. For undergraduates, the student must be an incoming regular third year, has obtained a semestral average greater than 83% and shall pass the screening process of OPA, EDCenter, and SUC. For master’s degree students, the student must be a permanent/regular employee for at least two years and shall pass the same screening process.

If a student qualifies, the student is entitled to receive benefits such as financial assistance each semester and monthly allowances. The benefits are in a duration of two years for all Agriculture/Fisheries programs and three years for BSABE.

Additionally, the scholarship program requires return service after graduation for four years for all Agriculture/Fisheries programs, and six years for BSABE Precision Agriculture (5-year program). The graduates will provide service at OPA in Bohol, OPV, and other linked offices.

BASP offers opportunities in few selected partner SUCs in the Philippines from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
