The University of Southern Mindanao (USM), in partnership with the Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners (PIEP) SOCCSKSarGen Chapter, successfully conducted the #GreenNotGray Webinar via Zoom on July 24, 2026.

Representing USM in the webinar were Engr. Willie Jones B. Saliling, Prof. Yvonne V. Saliling, and Prof. Mary Rodelyn A. Cariaga, who actively participated in the discussions and learning sessions.

The webinar formed part of Project LEMNAW, a two-year urban regeneration initiative that promotes a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to developing safe, sustainable, walkable, inclusive, and climate-resilient green public spaces across SOCCSKSarGen.

During the first module of the project, participants explored innovative practices and policies for climate resilience, disaster risk mitigation strategies for slopes, riverbeds, and shorelines, and engineered multi-functional systems for water and slope management.

Environmental planners, architects, and engineers gathered to strengthen their technical knowledge while encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration among government partners and professionals involved in sustainable urban development.

The webinar was implemented through the partnership of the Department of Economy, Planning and Development (DEPDev), that provided the Continuing Professional Development (CPD); the PIEP SOCCSKSarGen Chapter, which organized the activity; and USM, that facilitated the webinar.
