Students pursuing their studies at the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), as well as prospective enrollees, can expect academic programs that continue to meet nationally recognized quality standards as several undergraduate and graduate programs maintained higher accreditation levels during the recent survey visit conducted by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).
Leading the list is the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with Level IV Reaccredited Status, the highest accreditation level awarded by AACCUP.
Also reaccredited to Level III Accredited Status are the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPE) and the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM).
Meanwhile, the Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies (BAIS), Bachelor of Science in Criminology, and Master of Science in Animal Science maintained their Level II Accredited Status.
The Bachelor of Sports and Exercise Science (BSES), including its majors in Fitness and Sports Coaching and Fitness and Sports Management, obtained Level I Accredited Status after successfully completing its initial accreditation process.
These accreditation accomplishments were facilitated through the University Quality Assurance Office (UQAO) under the leadership of Dr. Lawrence Anthony U. Dollente, in collaboration with the respective colleges, program coordinators, faculty members, administrative personnel, students, alumni, and external stakeholders who participated in the accreditation process.
In a Facebook post, UQAO expressed its gratitude to everyone who contributed to the successful accreditation of the university’s academic programs, recognizing the dedication and cooperation of the colleges and stakeholders throughout the preparation and survey process.
AACCUP is an accrediting body that evaluates academic programs offered by state universities and colleges based on nationally recognized quality assurance standards. Its accreditation process covers areas such as curriculum and instruction, faculty, research, extension, student services, governance, and physical facilities to help ensure that academic programs meet established standards of quality.
