May 26, 2026
Service, leadership, and community involvement took center stage as students of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) gathered for the 24th NSTP Graduation Ceremony for the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) and Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) on May 26, 2026, at the University Auditorium, University of Southern Mindanao, Kabacan, Cotabato.
University President Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel, served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. He encouraged the graduates to continue practicing bayanihan, stewardship, and servant leadership in their communities.
In his message, Pimentel reminded the students that progress becomes possible when people work together with understanding, respect, and shared responsibility. He pointed out that leadership is not defined by position or recognition, but by the willingness to serve others with integrity, humility, and compassion.

He also encouraged the graduates to become responsible citizens by protecting the environment, upholding ethical values, and supporting sustainable development for future generations.
Emphasizing the value of peace and unity, Pimentel encouraged the graduates to promote understanding within their communities, saying, “Huwag makipag-away kung kaya mo namang intindihin ang mga bagay-bagay.” He added that choosing empathy over conflict strengthens bayanihan and results in more meaningful public service.

Meanwhile, outgoing Battalion Commander Jhymuel B. Tabasa thanked the ROTC community for the experiences, discipline, and camaraderie that helped shape them into future leaders and public servants.
CWTS President Reden Genova thanked the CWTS community for giving students opportunities to serve communities, develop leadership skills, and encourage volunteerism among the youth.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of awards to outstanding NSTP students from both the ROTC and CWTS programs for their performance, leadership, and dedication to service.
Carrying the theme, “Celebrating the Spirit of Bayanihan and Youth Leadership in Advancing Community Health, Empowerment, and Nation Building,”, the event was spearheaded by Prof. Bonifacio Solsoloy, the NSTP Director.
