The University of Southern Mindanao’s (USM) radio station, DXVL 94.9 Kool FM, sealed the celebration of its 20th anniversary during the Blue Siren Awards 2026, honoring various partner agencies and individuals on July 24, 2026, at the USM Commercial Building.
The Siren of Community Development was awarded to the Extension Services Office (ESO), recognizing its initiatives to empower communities, promote sustainable development, and improve the quality of life for its target beneficiaries.
Through the “Ugnayan Natin sa Radyo” program under the “Collaborative Networking and Engagement for Community Transformation” extension project, ESO and DXVL fostered a partnership aimed at empowering a wide array of beneficiaries—from out-of-school youth and farmers to local entrepreneurs.
Receiving the award, ESO Director Dr. Glyn G. Magbanua expressed her appreciation, emphasizing the pivotal role of USM experts in delivering action-oriented knowledge directly to the community.

By bringing USM’s research and expertise straight to the airwaves, we bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world impact. We share this award with our faculty experts and partner communities who make transformative extension work possible.”
Alongside ESO, the DA-Philippine Carabao Center at USM, DA-Agricultural Training Institute XII, and SOXAARRDEC also received the same award.
The Siren of Community Development Award underscored ESO’s commitment to advancing sustainable development, fostering inclusive growth, and driving social transformation.
