
USM Launches System for Faster HR Transactions

Dr. Apple R. Ureta, a faculty member of the College of Human Ecology and Food Sciences (CHEFS), was appointed Director of the USM Alumni Affairs Office effective June 1, 2026.
As Director, Dr. Ureta will lead efforts to strengthen alumni relations and engagement. She will also oversee alumni programs and activities, facilitate alumni services, build partnerships, and support the university’s development initiatives.
During the interview with University Public Relations and Information Office (UPRIO), Dr. Ureta left a message to USM alumni. She emphasized that wherever the alumni may be, they remain the pride of the university.
“From the heart of Kabacan to wherever your journey has taken you, your achievements continue to inspire our campus and shape the next generation of USMians. We look forward to strengthening our bonds with you through upcoming events, homecomings, and collaborations— because no matter how far you go, you will always be a vital part of the USM family,” she underscored.
Moreover, she also expressed appreciation to the University President for the trust and confidence given to her. Furthermore, she said she is honored to take on the responsibility and is fully committed to strengthening ties with the global USM alumni community while supporting the administration’s vision for the university.
“I look forward to dedicating my best efforts to ensure the success of our upcoming events and the goals of this office,” she remarked.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ureta shared her vision for the Alumni Affairs Office. She said the office will serve as a vital bridge between the university and its graduates by organizing activities such as class reunions, homecomings, alumni recognition programs, and other related events.
“We look forward to the office providing transition support through career placement services, networking opportunities, and alumni-funded scholarships for [USM] students. Also, in coordinating with alumni both locally and internationally, as well as sourcing valuable sponsorships for major campus events” she ended.
At USM, Dr. Ureta has consistently served as Chairperson of the Food Service Committee during major university events. These include graduation and recognition ceremonies, university research in-house reviews, and founding anniversary celebrations. She holds a Master of Business Administration major in Hotel and Restaurant Management and Doctor of Philosophy in International Hospitality Management.
