May 10, 2024Workshop on Gender Mainstreaming Evaluation Framework (GMEF) for the GAD Technical Working Group
May 12, 2024The World Food Programme (WFP) conducted a training on content development and production workshop for the Development Communication (DevCom) students of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) on May 9 to 10, 2024, held at the Kundo E. Pahm Learning Resource Center (KEPLRC), USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.
The workshop aimed to exercise the multi-media production skills of the students, produce food and nutrition-related media content, and define the relevance of promoting food and nutrition-related behavior through communication.
Ms. Irish Jane Calungsod, with Ms. Liezl Sarmiento, the WFP personnel, introduced the Social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) approach to the participants. SBCC is a three-part approach that utilizes Behavior Change Communication, Social or Community Mobilization, and Advocacy. The WFP staff also presented the results of the formative research called BAMBINA as part of their advocacy.
On the first day, DevCom students were assigned in groups, crafted content for radio and digital media, and subjected to feedback after their workshop. On the second day, participants showcased their various outputs using different platforms.
The partnership of WFP and USM started with the SBCC approach introduced by the WFP to the Extension Services Office (ESO) of USM and finally to the Department of Development Communication. The partnership agreement of WFP and ESO is ongoing.
Spearheaded by ESO and facilitated by the DevCom faculty members, the two-day activity trained 50 DevCom students.
