The University of Southern Mindanao Alumni Association (USMAA) convened its alumni on September 30, 2024 at the University Auditorium, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.

During the program, USMAA awarded Outstanding Alumna Research Award to Dr. Irma Cansino Tandingan. Additionally, Narsullah A. Badal was awarded Outstanding Alumnus in Entrepreneurship, and Dr. Ronielyn F. Pinsoy was recognized as Outstanding Alumna in Administration.

Ma. Alana Samantha Santos, the 3rd District Cotabato Representative, graced the activity. In her message, she underscored the continuous support of her office and the Cotabato Governor Emmylou T. Mendoza to USM.

“We cannot run USM without each and everyone of us. Let us work together for the betterment of the students [of USM]. I hope that you will always be there for the advocacies that USM will have.” Santos highlighted.

Election of officers for USMAA also transpired during the program. Paul John B. Ongcoy, PhD was re-elected as the President of the association and will remain as member of the USM Board of Regents.

My second term with the MIT-USM Alumni Association Inc. presents new challenges, as we prepare to collaborate with the incoming university administration in 2025. I am deeply grateful for the support extended by Governor Emmylou “Lala” J. Taliño-Mendoza and Congresswoman Sam Taliño-Santos in bringing our programs and activities to reality,” Ongcoy focused in his speech.

This year’s alumni homecoming was themed: “Baliktanaw: Honoring the Past, Celebrating the Future.”
