USM Joins CHED 12 ASEAN Expo 2022

The University of Southern Mindanao (USM), through the Extension Services Office (ESO), won the best booth exhibit during the PhilRice Lakbay Palay Field Day, Technology Forum, and Product Exhibition on September 7 at PhilRice Midsayap Branch, Bual Norte, Midsayap, Cotabato.
The Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) Midsayap Branch organized the event with the theme “Ani ay Sigurado sa Teknolohiyang Garantisado” to promote new rice varieties and rice-based production technologies to help farmers become more productive. USM showcased High-Value Crop Products from cacao, banana, herbs, and spices. The farmers also enjoyed free education, information, and communication (IEC) materials on Rubber, Cacao, Banana, Coffee, Goat, and chicken. The product exhibition, dubbed as PhilRice and Stakeholders’ Bazaar, also highlighted local products from participating private agricultural companies, farmer cooperatives as well as partner government agencies like SOXAARRDEC, Landbank Midsayap, Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority XII, PCIC XII, NIA XII, RCPC XII, NFA, BPI-NSQCS XII, OMAg Midsayap, BLGU Bual Norte, and Seed Cooperatives.
PhilRice Deputy Executive Director for Development Karen Eloisa Barroga, DA-BAR OIC-Director Sailila Abdula, DA-RFO XII Rice Focal Person Ray Embajador, and Midsayap Councilor and Chair for Committee on Agriculture Hon. Allan Mostrales attended the event. More than 400 farmers and representatives from partner agencies joined the PhilRice Lakbay Palay Field Day, Technology Forum, and Product Exhibition.
