Kabacan, Cotabato – The Philippine Industrial Crops Research Institute (PICRI) and the Research Publication Services Office (RPSO) at the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) officially welcomed their new directors, Dr. Tamie C. Solpot and Dr. Florence Roy P. Salvaña, respectively. The turnover ceremony took place on March 24, 2025, at the USM Agricultural, Research, and Development Center (USMARDC) Administration Building.

The event also served as a send-off for outgoing RPSO Director, Dr. Ma. Teodora N. Cabasan, who dedicated a year to leading the office. A longstanding member of the University Research and Development Executive Council (URDEC) since 2019, Dr. Cabasan has held key positions, including Director of RPSO and Research Development Office (RDO), as well as Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension (VPRDE). As she steps down, she remains committed to advancing the university’s research initiatives, particularly by mentoring researchers in proposal and publication writing.

Meanwhile, Dr. Solpot assumes leadership of PICRI, filling a directorship that had been vacant since 2024.

The event was graced by the VPRDE Dr. Debbie Marie B. Versoza, Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension (VPRDE), along with members of the University Research and Development Executive Council (URDEC).
