Aimed at improving agricultural development, The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) reaffirmed its commitment to the Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (BAFE) on August 1, 2025, at the Office of the President, USM Administrative Building, Kabacan, Cotabato.
Expanding the agricultural development access, a BAFE satellite office is set to be established in the campus to render services in agricultural communities in the region right at their doorstep. This development was sealed through the signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between two parties.
The agreement was initially and strategically planned during the previous administration under former USM President Francisco Gil N. Garcia, PhD and was strengthened and made possible under the support of the current leadership of USM President Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel.

Meanwhile, a significant step towards innovation was initiated through the proposed University of Southern Mindanao-Agricultural and Biosystems Machinery Testing and Evaluation Center (USM-ABMTEC). This facility will house initiatives to support agriculture by improving the quality of agricultural machinery used by local farmers in the community and ensure that farmers will always have a reliable access to modernizing approaches towards agricultural productivity.

Present during the meeting were Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel, USM President, Dr. Baldwin G. Jallorina, BAFE Director, Engr. Jocelyn F. Torres, Chief of the Regional Agricultural Engineering Division (RAED), Engr. Renel Alucilja, USM Planning and Development Office Director, and representatives from Department of Agriculture.
