Two academic programs of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) to wit, Bachelor of Science in Social Work and Bachelor of Science in Economics have undergone Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) Evaluation on November 27, 2025, at the University Commercial Building, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.

Engr. Jhan Jkem Fontanilla, CHED Education Supervisor II, Marvin S. Alagbay, CHED Education Supervisor II, Dr. Alfie Custodio, an RQAT Member, and Dr. Lovelieh Quemado, also an RQAT Member served as evaluators from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region XII. The evaluators presented their findings and recommendations for both programs at the end of the activity. 

Dr. Leorence C. Tandog, the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), attended the evaluation. In her message, the VPAA expressed appreciation to CHED for its constant support to the request of USM. 

While USM waits for the result of the evaluation, Dr. Tandog reassured the university’s commitment for excellence and continuous improvement in delivering quality educational services. 

“We affirm our full commitment to addressing all identified areas for improvement and to sustaining compliance with CHED policies, standards, and guidelines. Guided by the recommendations of the RQAT,” Dr. Tandog said. 

The University Quality Assurance Office (UQAO) Directed by Dr. Lawrence Anthony U. Dollente spearheaded the evaluation. Mr. Renante Montero, one of the UQAO staff and the focal person for COPC and CHED-related assessments, closely coordinated with CHED, faculty members, department chairpersons, and deans from respective units and colleges.
