The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) President Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel, together with Dr. Jalaloden B. Marohom, the  USM Intellectual Property, Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (USM IPTTBDO) Head, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Intellectual Property of the Philippines (IPOPHL) on April 10, 2025 at the Sequoia Hotel, Parañaque.

USM through its IPTTBDO was among the new members of the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) network during the summit. Significantly, USM is the first institution in Region XII to be a member of ITSO.

Happening during the ITSO Presidents’ Summit and General Assembly, the signing of MOA signifies the strong partnership of USM and IPOPHL through ITSO especially in enhancing IP protection and technology transfer, increasing research commercialization, and strengthening institutional and industry partnerships.

IPOPHL is the government agency mandated to administer and implement State policies on IP to strengthen the protection of IP rights in the country.
