Based on the 20th Anniversary edition of Webometrics (January 2023), the University of Southern Mindanao remains among the top 20 Higher Education Institutions out of 365 universities and colleges in the Philippines. This is the second time that USM was included in the top 20 spots after placing 16th in the Webometrics ranking in July 2022 and 17th this January 2023 edition.
Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain. The Cybermetrics Lab, using quantitative methods, has designed and applied indicators to measure scientific activity on the Web.
This ranking system selected the universities and colleges based on the following indicators: online visibility, transparency or openness, and excellence.
Interestingly, USM sustains its rank as the top University in Region XII and is now included in the best four HEIs in Mindanao.
The publication of scientific research by the faculty and staff is viewed as one reason to enhance the university’s rating, in addition to offering reliable information about USM activities and services on its website.
