To ensure the proper implementation of academic programs in its campuses, Dr. Leorence C. Tandog, Vice President for Academic Affairs of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), conducted an ocular visit and strategic planning session at the USM Pigcawayan External Campus on January 30, 2026.

In line with the university’s goal to make quality education accessible to local communities, USM officials met with the LGU of Pigcawayan to discuss the campus’ current needs and development plans.

Dr. Marcelo C. Calabit, Campus Head, opened the meeting by presenting the issues and concerns of the campus. After discussion, the group agreed to make the Health and Sciences program the main academic offering. The BindTech program, with majors in Automotive, Electrical, and Drafting Technology, will continue to operate.

Ms. Beverly Pacete, Focal Person of PET Pigcawayan, represented Juanito C. Agustin during the meeting. The LGU presented newly acquired resources for the campus, including smart TVs, computers, printers, and school and office supplies for student use. Dr. Calabit also shared that the LGU provided drawing tables, tools, and equipment to support both classroom and laboratory activities.

The team toured the campus, which is temporarily located at the PTC-Pigcawayan premises. The administration of PTC-TESDA Pigcawayan, led by Engr. Distor, thanked USM and the LGU for their cooperation and support.

Dr. Tandog was joined by Dr. Leonard M. Paleta, Director for Instruction; Engr. Renel M. Alucilja, Director of the Planning and Development Office; Dr. Joel V. Misanes, Dean of the College of Trades and Industries; and Dr. Uldarico E. Lavalle, Jr., Chair of the DIT Department. Engr. Distor and representatives from the Municipal Planning Office also attended the meeting.
