Kabacan, Cotabato – The Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) unit presented its 2024 performance reports during the Year-End Performance Management Review on February 27, 2025, at the Admin Building Skyroom.
The presenting offices under RDE included the Research Development Office (RDO), Intellectual Property, Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (IPTTBDO), University of Southern Mindanao Agricultural Research and Development Center (USMARDC), Extension Services Office (ESO), Research Publication Services Office (RPSO), Philippine Industrial Crops Research Institute (PICRI), and the Office of the Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension (VPRDE).


Dr. Lydia M. Pascual, Director of RDO, highlighted the office’s significant research outputs and collaborative projects. Dr. Jalaloden B. Marohom, Director of IPTTBDO, detailed advancements in intellectual property management and technology transfer initiatives.


Dr. Jurhamid Imlan, Director of USMARDC, presented key achievements in agricultural innovation and community-based projects. Dr. Glyn G. Magbanua, Director of ESO, discussed the office’s community engagement activities and extension programs.


Dr. Maria Teodora N. Cabasan, Director of RPSO, emphasized the university’s research dissemination efforts and outlined future strategic directions. Meanwhile, Dr. Debbie Marie B. Verzosa, Officer-in-Charge of PICRI and VPRDE, showcased the institute’s progress in industrial crop research and development. As VPRDE, Dr. Verzosa also shared insights on the university’s broader research and extension agenda, emphasizing USM’s commitment to innovation and community engagement.
All RDE offices achieved an average Office Performance Commitment and Review (OPCR) rating exceeding 4.70. The OPCR rating evaluates an office’s work performance in government institutions, reflecting high efficiency, productivity, and commitment to institutional goals.
The performance reports included DBM mandates, core functions, achievements, risks and opportunities, catch-up plans, and best practices.



USM President Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel, who also serves as the Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS) Champion, led the open forum following the presentations. The forum was facilitated by the ten-member Performance Management Team, led by the Chairman, Dr. Eimer M. Estilloso, the Vice President for Administration and Finance.
Other units, including Resource Generation and Entrepreneurial Services, Academic Support Units, Academic Units, Administration and Finance, the Office of the President, and USM Extension Campuses, also presented their 2024 performance reports.
The event reinforced USM’s mission, vision, and commitment to excellence in research, innovation, and community service.
