Among the 229 higher education institutions in the Philippines, the University of Southern Mindanao is EduRank’s 29th placer in the list of 100 Best Universities and 2516th out of 5,830 universities in Asia for 2022.
The university was evaluated based on research performance (45%), non-academic prominence (45%), and alumni score (10%). On publications and citations, biology was recognized as the top performing area for research, followed by environmental science, and medicine.
According to EduRank, the three indicators are complex enough and considered as valid predictors of a university’s position in the ranking.
The ranking indicates that USM is the only university in Region XII to be included in the list.
Established in 2022, EduRank.org is an independent metric-based ranking of 14,131 universities from 183 countries for 246 topics.
