September 27, 2019To further the progress of agriculture and science through research and publication, University of Southern Mindanao (USM) launched the Journal of Agricultural Research, Development, Extension, and Technology (JARDET) on September 17, 2019 at the USM Admin Skyroom, Kabacan, Cotabato.
Formerly the USM R&D Journal, JARDET is an annual peer-reviewed, scientific publication of USM devoted to publish a wide-range of research on agriculture including agricultural development, extension, and technology. It also considers publication of full research papers, short communication, and reviewed articles.
JARDET’s Editorial Team composed of seasoned USM researchers is excited for submissions of quality research studies and papers within the scope of agriculture and science. Dr. Emma K. Sales, director of the Publication Office and editor in chief, ensures that JARDET will provide additional path to publication for scientists in the field. Dr. Ma. Teodora N. Cabasan, deputy director of the Publication Office, serves as the associate editor. Mr. Bryan Lloyd P. Bretaña of the Department of Biological Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences is as the managing editor. And Ms. Jasmine A. Pecho and Mr. Rezin G. Cabantog are the editorial staff members.
Comprising the reviewers of JARDET are eight faculty researchers from different from different local and international universities: Dr. Charina Gracia B. Banaay, University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB); Dr. Marjorie B. de los Angeles, UPLB; Dr. Glenda Z. Doblas, Central Mindanao University; Dr. Nikki Heherson A. Dagamac, University of Greifswald, Germany; Dr. Rosy L. Janeo, UP Visayas; Dr. Florence Roy P. Salvaña, USM; Dr. Tuanjit Sritongchuay, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China; and Dr. Naomi G. Tangonan, USM.

volume, the newest release of JARDET features five research papers, to wit:

Pia Amabelle M. Flores; “Control of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. Cubense (E.F.
Sm.) Snyder and Hansen tropical race 4 causing Fusarium wilt in banana cv.
“Lakatan”by Tamie C. Solpot and Christian Joseph R. Cumagun; “Evaluation of USM
Biotech DNA extraction method for selected agricultural crops in comparison
with existing methods” by Monalyn A. Marimpoong and Emma K. Sales; and “Growth
performance and inorganic mercury uptake of Vetiver (Chrysopogon zizanoides
Nash) inoculated with arbuscular mycorrhiza fungi (AMF): its implication to
phytoremediation” by Bryan Lloyd Bretaña, Sheimarie Salcedo, Lothy Casim, and
Rhodora Manceras.
USM President Dr. Francisco Gil N. Garcia in his speech during the launching program lauded the efforts of the Editorial Board for taking the newly updated USM’s official scientific journal to new heights. Administrative and Key Officials who graced the launching were Vice President (VP) for Academic Affairs Dr. Lope Dapun, VP for Research, Generation, and Extension Services Dr. Cayetano Pomares, VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Nicolas Turnos, college deans, and directors.
