To ensure the continued delivery of excellent service to its clientele, the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) continued its initiative on digital archiving through the second session of the workshop on March 19, 2024, at the Board Room, Admin Building, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.

Prof. Eugene G. Ranjo, the UICTO Director, emphasized the crucial role of the participants in the digital archiving process. He also underscored the importance of backup files and tackled the issues of ICT in this digital age.

Significantly, Dr. Eimer M. Estilloso, the Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF), in his opening message, said that the project is an initiative of USM President Francisco Gil N. Garcia. Additionally, he highlighted the significance of archiving and inspired the attendees to be like cockroaches and not dinosaurs. “Be like cockroaches who are little but are adaptive and continue to live now, unlike the dinosaurs who were huge but were not able to survive.” He spoke.

In the activity, Mr. Ralph Butch Garidan, the Information System Analyst II of UICTO, discussed the basic digitization techniques, utilization of Foxit software, and the digital scanning of documents using different scanners.

The University Information and Communication Technology Office (UICTO), in coordination with the Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO) and Accounting Office, spearheaded the activity and attended by the administrative personnel and staff.

The Digital Archiving System aims to save the significant files of the university to systematically organize the papers and mainstream the processes in its quest for excellent service to the community.
