The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) recently concluded a three-day Online Accreditation Survey Visit conducted by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) from June 18 to 20, 2025.
The visit formally opened with a program held at the University Skyroom, Administration Building, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato, where USM officials, led by University President Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel, warmly welcomed the team of accreditors. Dr. Marivic T. Sanchez of Rizal Technological University served as the overall coordinator and provided an orientation on the online accreditation process.
The following academic programs were evaluated during the visit:
- Bachelor of Science in Accountancy
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
- Bachelor of Elementary Education
- Bachelor of Secondary Education
- Master of Arts in Education
- Doctor of Education
- Bachelor of Science in Biology
- Master of Science in Biology
- Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness
- Bachelor of Science in Development Communication
During the Exit Conference on June 20, Dr. Sanchez delivered her overall impression, commending USM for its preparedness and the professionalism of its faculty and staff.
“We are impressed with the level of documentation, the digitalization of records, and the commitment of the academic leaders to quality assurance. There is a strong culture of cooperation, innovation, and continuous improvement,” she noted.
While the official accreditation results are still pending, the AACCUP team acknowledged the institution’s clear direction, engaged academic community, and its commitment to student-centered and community-oriented initiatives.
In his response, President Pimentel expressed deep appreciation to the accreditors and reaffirmed USM’s pursuit of quality and relevance in its academic offerings.
“We are committed to excellence through accreditation, to our different course offering that will make the USM the same or higher level to other institution,” he stated.
The success of the survey visit was made possible through the concerted efforts of USM’s academic departments and the strong support of the University Quality Assurance Office team led by Dr. Lawrence Anthony U. Dollente.
