Dr. Radji Macatabon, Director of Sentro ng Wika at Kultura and Project leader of the Dokumentasyon ng mga wika sa Pilipinas (Manobo Dulangan) in the University of Southern Mindanao, held a meeting with the personnel from the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino namely, Kirt John Segui and Dannielle Laggui, on April 23, 2025, at the USM Administration Building, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato. The team discussed the preparation and monitoring for the Phase II of the project during the meeting.
The Phase I of the project secures permission and establishing partnership with the authorities involved and gatekeepers of the target communities. Continuing to Phase II, detailed plans and preparations were laid out during the meeting to ensure prolific conduct of the project before immersing the locale.





The research project which started in 2024, aimed to preserve the dying languages in the Philippines through documentation. Only three institutions in the country were given the budget to proceed with the project, one in each for Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. USM was chosen in Mindanao to obtain the funding and conduct the research partnered with the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino.
Dr. Debbie Marie Verzosa, Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension along with the project staff were present during the meeting.
