In line with improving the initiatives for the rice stakeholders in the region, the University of Southern Mindanao personnel and the dignitaries from the Philippine Rice Research Institute- Midsayap Experimental Station (PhilRice-MES) gathered on February 19, 2024, at the USM Skyroom, USM, Kabacan Cotabato.
The team discussed the seed production report 2023 and the research for the development plan. The existing Memorandum of Agreement between USM and PhilRice-MES was also reviewed.
In an interview with Dr. Eduardo Jimmy P. Quilang, the OIC- Deputy Director for Research of the PhilRice Central Office, he looks forward to the agreements discussed will help support the national program of the Department of Agriculture (DA), the Masagana Rice Industry Program. He is optimistic that the area provided by USM for seed production will hugely help the seed growers and farmers in the region.
