Loynei F. Sumalinog, the Information Officer III, of the University Public Relations and Information Office (UPRIO) of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) attended the news writing masterclass with Chin Wong, a distinguished journalist and editor, as the resource speaker on March 22, 2025, at The Manila Times, Intramuros, Manila. 

Mr. Wong has been a lecturer at the Ateneo de Manila University since 2002, including graduate-level courses at the Konrad Adenauer Asian Center for Journalism. With over 40 years of experience in the Philippine media landscape, Mr. Wong discussed the details of writing the news effectively. In his lecture, he shared his experience in the production and editing process in the news companies he was in. Meanwhile, he provided tips on gathering the news in interviews and on sharpening the lead. Workshop also transpired after each lecture.

Spearheaded by The Manila Times School of Journalism, the masterclass gathered journalism students, government employees, and individuals from the private sector.
