The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) took part in the 32nd Founding Anniversary celebration of the Department of Agriculture–Philippine Carabao Center (DA-PCC) on March 27, 2025, at DA-PCC, Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.
USM President Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel, together with USM Vice President for Resource Generation and Entrepreneurial Services Dr. Samsudin S. Panday, Finance and Management Services Director Dr. Jay-R G. Vildac, and Education Program Specialist Jessie G. Elarde, DA-PCC at USM Central Director Dr. Geofrray R. Atok, and personnel attended the event to show the university’s continued support for DA-PCC programs. During the celebration, Dr. Pimentel met and engaged with various leaders and stakeholders, especially to Senator Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada, who served as one of the keynote speakers.

Senator Estrada, the co-author of Senate Bill 2558, honored the legacy of his father and lauded the DA-PCC for 32 years of transformative work, turning the image of the carabao from a simple “beast of burden” into a “beast of fortune” through innovation and agricultural support.
The anniversary, held under the theme “Excellence in Unity: Propelling the Future through Innovation,” also marked the introduction of several initiatives to wit, the Carabao Industry 2040 Foresight, the Agrinegosyo Credit Facility for Carabao and Dairy Farmers (ANYO) Program, and the unveiling of the new DA-PCC website.
Beyond the celebration, Dr. Pimentel also participated in the 24th Advisory Board (AdBoard) meeting, presided by DA Assistant Secretary Dr. Benjamin Albarece. The meeting focused on the agency’s 2025 targets, budget plans, and strategies to resolve internal concerns while strengthening partnerships and technical networks.
With DA-PCC’s advocacy in uplifting the carabao industry and improve the lives of Filipino farmers, USM strengthened its support to the agency through its involvement in the celebration.
