The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) and the Local Government Unit of Banisilan formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for USM Banisilan on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. The agreement aims to make higher education more accessible for the community’s youth and contribute to its sustained local development.




This agreement allows USM to bring its programs directly to Banisilan, creating greater opportunities for education and progress in the community. The signing ceremony was attended by USM officials, including Dr. Leorence C. Tandog, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Engr. Renel Alucilja, Director of the Planning and Development Office; Dr. Manuel Tayong, Dean of the College of Trades and Industries; Prof. Marcelo Calabit; Prof. Uldarico Lavalle Jr.; Engr. Garry Keith Escucha; and Ms. Jean Austria.
From the LGU Banisilan, Mayor Hon. Jesus F. Alisasis, Hon. Jerry F. Alisasis, Hon. Kristan King Y. Princesa, Hon. Julius M. Valdez, Hon. Hasna M. Amad, Hon. Relly S. Deocampo, and District Supervisor Yusof Aliudin were present to show their support and recognize the significance of this new collaboration.
“Together, we are opening doors for a better future where education helps everyone move forward,” Dr. Tandog said during the ceremony, emphasizing the institution’s ongoing service to the community and its transformation.
Meanwhile, Mayor Alisasis expressed his gratitude to USM for turning their dream of having a university in Banisilan into a reality. “Daghang salamat gid sa USM para sa oportunidad nga ini. Paningkamutan namo nga mapabilin ug molambo ang skwelahan,” he said.
USM Banisilan offers a Bachelor of Industrial Technology program. Enrollment for USM Banisilan is now open and ongoing, with applications currently being accepted.
