The University of Southern Mindanao is launching the new peer-reviewed journal, Studies in Natural and Applied Sciences (SNAPS). This journal aims to promote and bring together quality scientific work and ideas from a wide range of disciplines and methodologies in both natural and applied sciences. This peer-reviewed and open access journal aims to serve as a springboard for science advancements, scientific capacity-building, and information exchange integrative knowledge across the Philippines and internationally.

The journal aims to promote science publication as an academic practice and culture. The philosophy of the journal will adhere to develop an author-friendly journal particularly for students and early career researchers (ECRs). The journal will serve as training venue for students and ECRs as a start-up in writing and publishing their scientific work, as the journal editors shall look for reasons to publish rather than reject, and to enable the authors to follow through on their revisions. The journal will adhere to the highest ethical standards of editorial and review process by selecting expert reviewers in the field of study.

The journal scope is interdisciplinary and integrative, encompassing a wide suite of areas in the natural and physical sciences, applied mathematics, engineering, communication sciences, and mathematics and science education. SNAPS will strictly follow double blind-review by the standards of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). The journal will publish full-text articles, short communications, review and synthesis, and forums or perspectives in one to three issues in a single volume, annually. The journal will also publish SNAPS Scientific Minds, a student research section every year to feature student research and outputs.

SNAPS will be handled by Dr. Debbie Marie Verzosa and Dr. Krizler Tanalgo as co-editors-in-chief. Please email the University Research Publication Services Office at [email protected] to receive more details regarding publication guidelines.
