USM, through the Kundo E. Pahm Learning Resource Center (KEPLRC) officially launched Pantas and Zendy, new online platforms for library system and online research resources, at the KEPLRC Lobby, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato, on February 09, 2026.

Pantas is a modern library system that helps make daily library work easier. It improves cataloging and book lending and brings print and digital collections together in one place. Pantas also uses data to help libraries make better decisions. With this system, libraries can offer a more responsive and user-friendly experience that supports teaching, learning, and research.

At the same time, KEPLRC introduced Zendy, an AI-powered research assistant. Zendy is an online platform that provides academic resources across all disciplines. It gives users easy and affordable access to academic journals, eBooks, and other scholarly materials. With Zendy, students, faculty, and researchers can find reliable information anytime and anywhere.

Students, the main users of the newly subscribed e-resources, joined the launch and showed great enthusiasm. They shared that these resources will help them in their studies and make their stay at the university more meaningful.

Kirk Darrell Soriano, the Vice President of the University Student Government, formally thanked USM and KEPLRC.

“These digital resources empower us, students, to learn beyond the classroom anytime and anywhere, while strengthening our culture for research innovation and critical thinking,” he said in his speech. 

Meanwhile, Dr. Samsudin S. Panday, the Vice President for Resource Generation and Entrepreneurial Services (VPRGES), graced and extended support to the activity. Also, Ms. Qunielyn L. Durendes, the Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF) expressed support emphasizing the alignment with the goals of KEPLRC and the administration is the key to the success of the university. 

Moreover, Dr. Leonard M. Palete, the Director for Instruction, conveyed excitement to the new resources for the library as it will help the clientele of USM. 

 “Through the newly acquired e-resources and modern facilities, we are making knowledge faster to access, more efficient to use, and globally connected,” Dr. Paleta emphasized in his message. 

Mr. Cloyd A. Cunanan, the CEO of Area 51, the provider of Pantas and Zendy, expressed gratitude to USM for trusting their team. He mentioned that USM is the second university in the Philippines to use Pantas, as this is the first library system designed for Filipinos. 

Prof. Susan Martinez, the KEPLRC Director, along with the librarians, showed appreciation to everyone who witnessed and joined the activity. 

“This advancement demonstrates library’s commitment to integrating modern technologies innovation services, and smart facilities that enhance access to information improve operational efficiency and provide a safe and responsive learning environment,” She underscored. 

KEPLRC launched the new electronic resources as part of its monthly Kapehan sa Aklatan. The activity aims to share and promote the USM Library’s initiatives with students, faculty members, and staff.
