The University of Southern Mindanao-Kidapawan City Campus (USM-KCC) conducted a groundbreaking ceremony for two new academic buildings on June 20, 2025, at the USM-KCC grounds, Sudapin, Kidapawan City.
The new facilities will house the College of Technology and the College of Engineering, respectively. Funded through the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the College of Technology building has an approved contract cost of ₱50 million, while the College of Engineering building is set to be constructed at a cost of ₱30 million.
During the ceremony, Hon. Rosheil Gantuanco-Zureta represented Hon. Governor Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza. In her message, the former Kidapawan City Councilor commended the strong family relationship of USM.
“One great thing about USM-KCC is that you are not just a learning institution, but a family.” She noted.
“All credit goes to your USM officials as they think of the future of the youth. It is important that we continue to work together and that we make a difference in our community especially here in USM-KCC.” She noted.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel, the USM President, joined the ceremony. He recalled having classes in dilapidated classrooms and under the trees in USM-KCC in the past.
“USM is committed to provide quality education through these infrastructures. I hope that we will have more construction of buildings especially that USM-KCC is growing… and I am sure since we have supportive leaders in the province and in the congress.” He underscored.
Moreover, Dr. Ronielyn F. Pinsoy, the USM-KCC Chancellor, expressed her gratitude to the support of the people who were present during the groundbreaking ceremony.
“These projects are not just infrastructure improvements, they are investment in the future of our learners, our educators, and our community. These signify our university’s continuing growth and our commitment to provide safe, conducive, and modern academic environment.” The Chancellor spoke.
Following the ceremony, a blessing of the construction sites took place. USM-KCC faculty and staff and representatives of Marcus Construction and Supply, and Sarex Builders and Supply were present in the activity.
