The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) participated in the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) grand Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing for the 2024 approved projects on October 17, 2024, held at Sheraton Manila Hotel, Pasay City.

USM President Francisco Gil N. Garcia, PhD, was joined by Vice President for Academic Affairs Prof. Marcos F. Monderin, Jalaloden B. Marohom, DBA, the project leader of HEIRIT: Establishment of USMart Technology Business Incubator, and Engr. Christopher Benito, the project leader of USM Center for Flood/Landslide Preparedness and Mitigation. Both projects are DOST-funded.

The USMart Technology Business Incubator will support ICT Solutions for Agri-Food startups and innovation within the region, while the USM Center for Flood/Landslide Preparedness and Mitigation aims to strengthen disaster preparedness in flood-prone and landslide-affected areas within the Province of Cotabato.

The event gathered university presidents and project leaders from across the country, reinforcing collaboration in research and technology for national development.
