Spearheaded by The Manila Times School of Journalism, the Information Officers (IOs) of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) to wit, Loynei F. Sumalinog, Charlotte Andrea D. Tutor, and Carl Waron M. Baldesimo attended the Workshop in Journalism for Social Media Content Creators on August 5 to 6, 2024 at The Manila Times, Intramuros, Manila.

The workshop with Jacque Manabat, a multi-awarded multimedia journalist and now a social media content creator, as a resource person, was composed of various sessions. She focused on engaging with the audience in social media, building credibility techniques, understanding the platform, and creating contents that connect. Participants from different offices and sectors presented their outputs on the second day.

“Our goal is not just going viral but be content creators that have substance and are purpose-driven” Manabat stated during the workshop with her innovative approach to storytelling and dedication to reaching a large audience.

For USM, she highlighted identifying its target audience, the content it wanted the audience to consume, the concerns the University wished to solve, and the reasons for content creation.

The workshop was designed to elevate the skills of social media content creators in the country.
