For reaching 40 years in government service, Carolyn P. Yagong, RM and Leonarda M. Vergara, RN, RM, staff from the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) Hospital, received service rings from USM on February 24, 2025, at the Administration Building, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.
In an interview, Yagong expressed her gratitude to be of service for USM over the years. She revealed that maintaining a healthy lifestyle is her secret to reaching her age now.
Talking with UPRIO, Vergara emphasized the importance of being honest in government service. She recalled that she started working in the government when she was only 21 years old. As a registered nurse and midwife, she expressed that she has found great satisfaction in serving the USM community and meeting countless people in the community through the years.
The service rings were awarded in addition to the tokens given to recipients during the 124th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary in September 2024, as part of an initiative led by former USM President Dr. Francisco Gil N. Garcia.
