A total of 17 students participated in the Philippine Junior Physics Olympiad, while 9 out of 10 registered students competed in the Philippine Junior Physics Challenge on January 18, 2025, at the College of Science and Mathematics, University of Southern Mindanao (USM), Kabacan, Cotabato.

Dr. Jelly Grace B. Nonesa, a faculty member from USM, served as the head invigilator and examiner for Region XII. While most students in SOCCSKSARGEN took the exams at USM, some were scheduled to participate at Ateneo de Davao University.

Similar competitions were conducted nationwide on the same day, ensuring students from various regions had the opportunity to showcase their skills and knowledge in physics.

These contests are annual events organized by the Samahang Pisika ng Pilipinas and the Samahang Pisika ng Visayas at Mindanao, aiming to identify and develop talented young physicists who could represent the Philippines in international competitions.
