“[We are] turning dreams into reality.” Dr. Maricel G. Dayaday, the Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT), expressed in her opening remarks during the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Microelectronics Cooperation between the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) and the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) on October 28, 2024, at the Skyroom, Administration Building, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.
The collaboration centers on the launch of CIDR, a Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-funded infrastructure aimed at reducing the risk of bringing new technologies from discovery to commercialization.
Dr. Jefferson Hora, the Project Leader for the Center for Integrated Circuits and Device Research (CIDR) Project 4 from MSU-IIT, expressed gratitude to USM for the collaboration, highlighting the institution’s strong engineering programs related to technology. Dr. Hora emphasized the importance of the partnership in advancing microelectronics in the region.
Representing USM President Dr. Francisco Gil N. Garcia, Dr. Debbie Marie B. Verzosa, Vice President for Research Development, and Extension (RDE), attended the event, with faculty, staff, and students from CEIT.
