In a continued effort towards promoting peaceful approaches to conflict resolution and empowering poor communities, the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) Extension Services Office (ESO) turned over planting materials and lecture manuals to the Inter-cultural Organizations Network for Solidarity and Peace, Inc. (ICON-SP) on October 30, 2025, at the USM College of Agriculture (CA) compound.

The planting materials which included various  vegetable seeds, fertilizers, and vegetable germination trays, were sourced from the Department of Agriculture (DA) 12 High Value Crops Development Program and  DA-Philippine Carabao Center at USM, through the efforts of Dr. Joan Sadoral, CA College Extension Coordinator.

The donated resources will be used for the establishment of a Community Garden for the Caritas Kasunayan Village, the beneficiary of USM’s UniK 2025 Program through it’s Community Sustainability component, led by Dr. Joan Sadoral and Dr. Geoffray Atok.

The turn-over activity underscores ICON-SP’s commitment towards providing necessary resources to help achieve the mutual goals of both agencies. With this, the partnership solidifies a shared vision for peaceful and economic development across the Southern Mindanao region.
