KABACAN, COTABATO — In a proactive effort to combat malnutrition and promote holistic child development, the University of Southern Mindanao – Extension Services Office (USM-ESO) extended vital nutritional and educational support to Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) pupils through a feeding and coloring initiative. Held on March 13, 2026, at Prk. Regta, Poblacion, Kabacan, the outreach targeted 24 beneficiaries aged 3–5.
The USM team, led by Training Specialist II Ritchel O. Torres, collaborated with faculty experts Prof. Vrenelie D. Flores II (CVM), Prof. Avegale S. Roy (CHEFS), and Prof. Marjurie V. Catuguran (CTI) to facilitate the distribution of healthy snacks and creative materials.
Following the feeding session, a coloring task was introduced to the pupils to stimulate their creativity and refine their fine motor skills. The activity was supported by the USM-Volunteers Club (UVC) and interns from the Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Extension programs, who assisted in documentation and event facilitation.
Milade M. Nimuan, PTA President, expressed her gratitude for the outreach, noting that such initiatives bridge the gap in early childhood support for local families
“Nagpapasalamat kami dahil sa pamamaraang ito, nabigyan din ng support ‘yung mga bata sa mga basic skills na gaya ng pagkukulay. Para sa iba, isa lamang itong simpleng bagay pero para sa aming mga magulang, masaya kaming nakikitang nag-eenjoy at busog ang mga anak namin,” Nimuan shared.
The event underscored USM-ESO’s commitment to foster meaningful community engagement while strengthening its role as a catalyst for public service and sustainable development.
