The University of Southern Mindanao is celebrating an unprecedented feat as the Department of Development Communication of the College of Arts and Sciences has been named finalist in the Most Development-oriented Radio Drama (General) category of the 13th Gandingan Awards by the University of the Philippines Los Banos.
The finalist is the program entitled “Barangay MaKOOLit” which portrays pressing issues of the community from social issues on health, drug addiction, politics, environment, and so on.
This 30-minuter development radio program was written and produced by third year BS Development Communication students last year under the two major subjects: Broadcast Speech and Performance Production Techniques under Mr. Allan Dalo. Mr. Dalo is also the manager of DXVL, the radio station of the University of Southern Mindanao.
Gandingan is an annual competition organized by the UP Community Broadcaster’s Society. The awarding ceremony of 13th Gandingan UPLB Isko’t Iska’s Multimedia Awards will take place on March 16, 2019 at DL Umali Auditorium, 5:00 pm.
