The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) Debate Varsity brought home the Silahis Cup and four awards during the 5th MSU Debate Championship on May 10-12, 2024 held at the Mindanao State University (MSU) – Marawi City.
Myca Ella Mebolos and Laurie Anne Digao were the UDV members who fought from the first round until the finals and brought home the Silahis Cup Champion plaque. Additionally, Mebolos was awarded Finals Best Speaker, while Moh. Esmail Jimlah and Hamdan Karnain were the 6th Best Speakers of the Silahis Cup. Moreover, the UDV President, Fhrancess Morales got the 9th Best Judge award.
In his Facebook post, Prof. Lloyd Anton Von M. Colita, the UDV adviser, expressed his gratitude to Rep. Samantha Santos for sponsoring the UDV. To Sir Pres. Dr. Francisco Gil N. Garcia and to OSA Director Dr. Ma. Leida Donque for the support.
UDV, a new organization that just started three months ago winning its first tournament, attests to USM students’ greatness and excellence not only in their academics, but also in their extracurricular activities.
