
USM, Hiroshima University Explore Stronger Cacao Partnership

The University of Southern Mindanao (USM), through its College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT), signed a memorandum of agreement with Kabacan Pilot Central School (KPCS) to strengthen science and technology learning among elementary students. The signing took place on March 31, 2026, at the University Skyroom, Administration Building, USM in Kabacan, Cotabato.
Through its Special Science Elementary School program, KPCS will introduce activities focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), with robotics education as part of its approach.



Under the agreement, USM will provide technical support such as expert guidance, training sessions, and access to university facilities for selected activities. These efforts aim to help both teachers and learners explore robotics and its practical applications.
Present during the signing were Dr. Maria Fe Estilloso, KPCS Principal, and Ms. Lennie Forro from the Department of Education Division Office of Cotabato, along with other DepEd faculty members.
Representing USM were Dr. Jonald Pimentel, University President; Dr. Debbie Marie Verzosa, Vice President for Research, Development and Extension; Dr. Maricel Dayaday, CEIT Dean; and other faculty members from the college.
