The USM- College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) headed by Engr. Maricel G. Dayaday, the College dean, conducted a Research Writeshop on January 09, 2026, at the Kundo E. Pahm Learning Resource Center, USM, Kabacan Cotabato.

The faculty members of the college from various disciplines engaged in guided writing, reflection, and discussion. The activity was anchored to CEIT’s commitment in strengthening faculty research productivity and scholarly publication. It aimed to improve research manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals specifically to the Journal of Engineering and Technology for Sustainability and Resilience (JETSUR).

Dr. Florence Roy Salvaña, the Research Publication Services Office (RPSO) Director, served as the resource person of the activity. Drawing from extensive experience in research, publication, and peer review, Prof. Salvaña emphasized that research writing goes beyond compliance with academic requirements; it is a means of communicating scientific rigor, originality, and societal relevance. During his discussion, he underscored the importance of clarity, coherence, and ethical scholarship in preparing manuscripts that meet the standards of reputable journals.

During the session, the participants were guided through key aspects of scholarly writing, including structuring research articles, refining arguments, responding to reviewers’ comments, and selecting appropriate peer-reviewed journals. Prof. Salvaña highlighted that the writeshop provides a supportive academic environment where faculty can transform completed studies into publishable papers, build confidence in writing, and develop sustainable research habits. Meanwhile, the activity also reinforced the role of mentorship and collaboration in improving research quality and publication success. ACSornito
