The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) and Carmen National High School- Senior High School (Carmen NHS-SHS) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on May 6, 2025, at the University Skyroom, Administration building USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.
USM President Jonald L. Pimentel, PhD, said it is a privilege for USM to support the project. He said that as a higher institution in Cotabato, it is part of USM’s responsibility to support the Department of Education, especially in providing quality education in Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT). He added that Carmen is within USM’s vicinity and that the initiative is a brilliant idea to help make students be more competitive. He assured that under his term, the university will continue to support such initiatives.
Dr. Glyn G. Magbanua, the USM Extension Services Director, explained that the MOA outlines USM’s extension project focused on the deployment of the Attendance Management and Library System to Carmen NHS-SHS. She said the collaboration is a significant step toward enhancing the school’s operational resources and directly supports students’ academic development.
Dr. Debbie Marie B. Verzosa, the Vice President for Research Development and Extension (VPRDE) of USM and the principal of Carmen National High School SHS Roleen B. Moleño, EdD joined the MOA signing.
The partnership is expected to strengthen resource management at Carmen NHS-SHS and improve student access to learning materials. The project is part of the USM Extension Program led by the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT).
