July 2, 2024During its 78th Commencement Exercises, the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) produced a total of 604 graduates with Latin honors, 53 were Magna Cum Laude, 521 were Cum Laude, seven were With High Honors, and 23 were With Honors out of 2,564 graduates from the Class of 2024.
The College of Education produced the most graduates with Latin honors at 154, followed by the College of Arts and Social Sciences with 98, College of Business, Development, Economics and Management with 93, College of Human Ecology and Food Sciences with 72, College of Agriculture with 61, Institute of Sports Physical Education and Recreation with 50, College of Science and Mathematics with 37, College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences with 23, Institute of Middle East and Asian Studies with 9, College of Engineering and Information Technology with 4, College of Trade and Industries with 2, and College of Veterinary Medicine with 1.
Meanwhile, the College of Education had the most number of Magna Cum Laude and Cum Laude with 16 and 138 respectively.
Ann Julie M. Febreo, Magna Cum Laude from the College of Business, Development, Economics and Management, is this year’s Valedictorian with a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 1.337. Magna Cum Laude graduates are students who had a GWA ranging from 1.251-1.500, while Cum Laude graduates had a GWA of 1.501-1.750. Lastly, those who were recognized with high honors and with honors are the graduates of the Certificate of Agricultural Sciences (CAS).
Discussing the number of graduates, the College of Agriculture (CA) emerged as the top producer of graduates for the Class of 2024, contributing 482 graduates, followed by the College of Business, Development, Economics and Management (CBDEM) with 386, College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) with 293, College of Education (CED) with 287, College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) with 258, College of Human Ecology and Food Sciences (CHEFS) with 249, Institute of Middle East and Asian Studies (IMEAS) with 121, College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (CMAHS) with 107, College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) with 98, Institute of Sports Physical Education and Recreation (ISPEAR) with 97, College of Trades and Industries (CTI) with 68, Graduate School (GS) with 63, and College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) with 54.
On the ceremony, Dir. Akmad Usman, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Region XII Director announced that DBM will be awarding cash incentives to the graduates with Latin honors.
