Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel, the President of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), attended the 4th Quarter Regional Research, Development, and Innovation Committee (RRDIC) Meeting on November 13, 2025, at Greenstate Convention Center, Koronadal City.
Engr. Sammy P. Malawan, DOST XII Regional Director, presided over the meeting, which focused on key concerns related to research, development, and innovation in the region. Consortia directors also presented their accomplishments for the quarter. Representatives from State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), research institutions, and various regional consortia were also in attendance.
RRDIC serves as a coordinating body for regional development. The members of the committee formulates research agenda, promotes innovation, facilitates technology transfer, and aligns R&D efforts with regional priorities.
Its key roles include developing a regional R&D agenda, coordinating R&D projects and consortia, and acting as a bridge between local government units, industry, and academe to foster innovation and economic growth.
Through this, USM reaffirms its commitment to partner agencies by actively responding to their requests and supporting their initiatives.
