Rep. Santos commends MIT-USM alumni during grand homecoming celebration
March 29, 2025
The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) Alumni Association, Inc. (MIT-USMAA) successfully launched its “Alumni on Wheels” initiative, bringing together USM alumni from Davao City, South Cotabato, and General Santos City for a series of engaging activities aimed at strengthening connections among graduates and fostering a sense of community. The initiative, which took place over several days, provided alumni the opportunity to reconnect with their alma mater and fellow graduates while also giving back to their local communities.
The “Alumni on Wheels” event, led by the USM Alumni Association Officers, was designed to cater to alumni who have since moved away from the university, allowing them to participate in alumni gatherings closer to home. The program was a unique opportunity for alumni to engage in discussions, networking, and even participate in community outreach activities.
In Davao City, alumni came together to share updates on the latest developments at USM and discuss ways they could contribute to the university’s growth. The event in South Cotabato allowed for a deeper exploration of potential collaborations between alumni in the region and the university’s various programs. In General Santos City, the “Alumni on Wheels” event focused on highlighting the professional achievements of USM graduates, inspiring current students and young alumni to follow in their footsteps.
USM Alumni Association President, Dr. Paul John B. Ongcoy, expressed the significance of the initiative, stating, “This program is all about creating stronger bonds among our alumni, no matter where they are. It also provides a platform for alumni to give back to their university and engage in local projects that uplift the communities they came from.”
The “Alumni on Wheels” program not only provided an avenue for alumni to reconnect with old friends and mentors, but it also included a series of activities like seminars, professional development sessions, and community service projects aimed at strengthening the alumni network and fostering greater collaboration.
The success of this initiative marks an important step in the ongoing efforts of the USM Alumni Association to maintain strong ties between the university and its graduates. Plans are already underway for future events that will continue to engage alumni across the region and beyond.
As the Alumni Association looks forward to more “Alumni on Wheels” events, it remains committed to its mission of fostering lifelong relationships and supporting the continued success of USM’s alumni network.
