Strengthening USM’s Research Impact: USM RD&E Key Officials on Google Scholar

Quality academic research is believed to be the lifeblood of a university. Measuring the research quality and impact has been increasingly important especially in translating research into economic, social, and other benefits and in encouraging greater collaboration between other universities and end-users of research.

Leading the University in this endeavor are the University of Southern Mindanao Research, Development, and Extension (USM RD&E) key officials who have successfully published research papers that have been indexed by Google Scholar.

Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literatures. In the 2018 “How Readers Discover Content in Scholarly Publications”, academic search engines were rated as the most important discovery source when searching journal articles, and Google Scholar is among the most widely used free academic search engines available. Furthermore, Google Scholar Citations provide authors to keep track of citations to their articles. Here, one can check who is citing the publications, graph citations over time, and compute several citation metrics. 

Below is the list of USM RD&E key officials who  successfully published research papers and indexed by Google Scholar. Vice President for RD&E Dr. Cayetano Pomares has an h-index of 5 and 69 number of citations. Director for Research and Development Office Dr. Edward Barlaan has an h-index of 8 and 290 number of citations. Director for University of Southern Mindanao Agricultural Research Center Dr. Efren E. Magulama has an h-index of 3 and 41 number of citations. And Director for Publication Office Dr. Ma. Teodora Cabasan has an h-index of 5 and 224 number of citations.
