Seven candidates presented plans and goals for the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) during the public forum on February 10, 2025, at the University Auditorium, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.
The candidates were Lawrence Anthony U. Dollente, PhD, Eimer M. Estilloso, EdD, Abubakar A. Murray, EdD, Onofre S. Corpuz, PhD, Jonald L. Pimentel, PhD, Samsudin S. Panday, PhD, and Marvien M. Barrios, EdD.
The public forum started with the presentation of their vision, mission, and programs of action and followed by answering five questions from the student, alumni, faculty members, non-teaching personnel, and private sector.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Lourdes E. Abadingo, the head of the search committee from UP Manila, highlighted that the search committee for the next USM President is tasked to help the Board of Regents (BOR) gather information and materials pertinent to the candidates.
The search committee is composed of Dr. Tirzo A. Ronquillo, the President of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) and Batangas State University (BatSU), Dr. Rody P. Garcia, the OIC President of USM and Commission on Higher Education Region XII Director, Dr. Naomi Tangonan, a USM Professor Emeritus, representing the Academic Community of USM, and Br. Arnel Alfanta, FMS from the Notre Dame of Kidapawan College, representing the private sector.
