Seven OCCPA, One NOCC USM Alumni Pay Courtesy Call to USM President

Eight newly commissioned officers from Officer Candidate Course Philippine Army (OCCPA) and Navy Officer Candidate Course (NOCC) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, all alumni of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), visited University President Dr. Francisco Gil N. Garcia on December 20, 2024, for a courtesy call.

The officers included:

• 2LT Lyster John B. Cilo Cilo, PA (Pikit, BS Criminology, 2022)
• 2LT Sylgon Jay S. Sanoy, PA (M’lang, BS Computer Engineering, 2022)
• 2LT Patrick John D. Paster, PA (Matalam, BS Psychology, 2022)
• 2LT John Mark B. Nicor, PA (Alamada, BS Nutrition and Dietetics, 2022)
• 2LT Glide Jean C. Tambalo, PA (Tulunan, BS Psychology, 2019)

During the visit, the officers discussed the newly implemented Platoon Leader Development System, a leadership training initiative introduced by the Officer Candidate School to enhance the skills of newly commissioned officers. They also shared updates on the Philippine Army’s recruitment process.

Dr. Garcia expressed pride in the achievements of the alumni and commended their dedication in serving the nation and recognizing USM’s role in their development.

The courtesy call highlighted the strong connection between the university and its alumni.
