Tanqueco, Supervising Science Research Specialist; Wilmar J. Lastimosa, Senior Science Research Specialist; Sherwin R. De Los Reyes, Science Research Analyst; and Victor P. Alcantara, Science Research Specialist II—visited the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) on January 21-22, 2024, to monitor and evaluate its funded projects.

The following PCAARRD-funded projects at USM were evaluated during the visit:

  • Enhancement of SOXAARRDEC ICT Infrastructure, led by Mr. Eugene G. Ranjo
  • SERDAC Satellite: Establishment of Socio-Economic and Data Analytics Center (SERDAC) Satellite at the University of Southern Mindanao to Strengthen Capacity of Socio-Economic Research and Analytics in the Region, led by Dr. Romiel John P. Basan
  • Smart Cacao Budwood Nursery and Greenhouse for Production of High-Quality Planting Materials, led by Dr. Edward A. Barlaan
  • Establishment of Regional Agri-Business Hub (ABH) in SOCCSKSARGEN through the RAISE Program, led by Mr. Ronald Z. Pascual

Project leaders of these projects, along with the SOCCSKSARGEN Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (SOXAARRDEC) team, warmly welcomed the IDD delegation and facilitated discussions and site visits related to the projects.

This monitoring and evaluation activity aimed to ensure the efficient utilization of PCAARRD funds and equipment and assess the alignment of these projects with their intended objectives. The visit also served as a platform to provide technical guidance to project leaders and identify areas for improvement to optimize project outcomes.

PCAARRD and USM will continue their collaboration to maximize the impact of these projects to ensure that the benefits reach local communities and stakeholders.
