June 6, 2023Lydia M. Clemen-Pascual of the Department of Chemistry, together with her co-authors Dr. Nina Rosario L. Rojas and Dr. Rene Angelo S. Macahig, were presented the Outstanding Scholarly Work Award in the School of Science and Engineering during the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Scholarly Work Awards Ceremony held on June 1, 2023. According to the ADMU website, the awards honor members of the ADMU community who have made outstanding contributions to their classrooms, fields of study, and the greater community.
The award was in recognition of their work, “Comparative toxicity, phytochemistry, and use of 53 Philippine medicinal plants” published in the Scopus-indexed journal Toxicology Reports in 2022. The article compares the toxicity of 53 medicinal plants and can help future researchers identify priority plants for safety studies and develop herbal drugs and nutraceuticals. The research was carried out during the course of Dr. Pascual’s graduate studies at ADMU.
